R-Espirando (2025), ARTEr.i.e., Piazza Duomo, Fara in Sabina (Rieti) IT

For the 20th anniversary edition of the ARTEr.i.e. festival, held at Fara in Sabina, I proposed a moment of reflection on our mortality while preserving the colourful and joyful spirit that characterises this festival.

Human life is a sequence of breaths, beginning with the first inhalation upon leaving the maternal womb and ending with the final exhalation at the moment of our passing.

In this performance, I render visible the conscious act of breathing, partially bypassing the automatic process controlled by the brainstem. The passage of time is measured by individual breath cycles, represented by the picking up and unfolding of each streamer, as well as by the frame transitioning from full to gradually empty.
