Grounding (2020), PAR, Sant’Oreste in rete PERCORSI e TRACCE all’aperto e salute ambientale per un nuovo stile di vita e di cultura, Mons Soracte, Rome IT

Fact 1

Between 1582 and 1590, six Franciscans, who had settled in the hermitages on Mons Soracte, died due to lightning repeatedly striking the summit of the mountain.

Fact 2

If caught in a thunderstorm in the mountains and unable to descend or take shelter in an enclosed refuge, it is important to:

• Stay away from pointed objects and trees;

• Avoid metallic objects (but taking shelter inside a car is recommended);

• Assume a crouching position with knees together, head down, and hands over your ears (never lie down).

Fact 3

An electrical plug (or male connector) is designed to be inserted into an electrical socket (or female connector). The side constantly carrying live current is the socket, while the plug can be inserted into the socket when needed. A third contact - used for grounding - directs any leakage of electrical current safely into the earth. It is recognisable by its yellow/green-coloured wires.

Advice

Ground the tension created by powerful emotions through whispers, words, screams, sounds, into the earth.
