You have the right to work, but never to the fruit of work. BG 2:47

For Example #1 (2013), Passionistas, The Arts House, Singapore SG

One day, while making myself a cappuccino with white chocolate syrup - a rare and indulgent treat - I observed the syrup slowly sliding down the glass, seemingly defying gravity. Captivated, I watched as it finally reached the bottom of the inclined glass cup I was holing, a truly poetic moment that inspired me to share this experience with my audience.

For the performance, I had a glass pane cut to 40cm by 120cm. Unable to find syrup, I used treacle sauce instead. Starting with a black blanket on the floor, I squirted the sauce on one side of the pane, then lay down holding it perpendicular to my body, arms stretched upwards, with the bottom part over my open mouth. Unsure how long the sauce would take to reach the bottom, I discovered alongside my audience that it took 45 minutes. During this time, people stayed with me, captivated as I had been.

At the very end, just as a small drop was about to fall into my mouth, I turned my head, and the drop landed on my cheek: the unplanned action transformed the performance into a meditation on betrayed perseverance.
